Roadside China

image

Went out to Golden Pebble Beach today. We stopped at a rest stop with a giant sailing ship pictured above. We later saw a series of large and colorful statues of various sealife near the beach. It made me think of Roadside America, a book of historic roadside attractions in the US. They were once popular but gradually faded away. It seems China’s growing middle class has inherited some of the same spirit that once inspired Americans to build giant dinosaurs and lumberjacks along highways.

If you want to learn more I recommend getting Roadside America.
